Preparatory School
Welcome to Belvedere International School's Preparatory School!
At BIS, the Preparatory School is made up of children from age 5 to 11, and is divided into 2 stages:
- Key Stage 1 – 5 to 7 year olds
- Key Stage 2 – 8 to 11 year olds
Our imaginative, engaging and creative curriculum enables excellent teaching and learning opportunities grounded in the National Curriculum for England, and is adapted to suit our unique environment.
Children are equally challenged reflecting best practice from the UK which celebrates the traditions, history and culture of the UAE.
Our teaching is tailored to the individual children so that the learning experience is meaningful.
Key Stage 1 is designed to provide a smooth transition for our students from the fundamentals grasped in the Foundation Stage to the more rigorous concepts to be grasped in the Preparatory School. The curriculum is designed to take into account the rapid development of our children at this stage.
At Key Stage 2 we value cross-curricular learning so that students make links between different subjects. Students are provided with many opportunities to develop and thrive. Learning is not limited to the classroom, but can also take place outdoors or through an educational visit, or a community service project. Lessons are lively, fun and challenging, and provide children with many opportunities to think critically and independently.
Our Preparatory School values, ethos and teaching approaches encourage children to develop collaborative enquiry skills, and understand that they are important individuals who can make a difference to the lives of others.
We strive to promote curiosity, to encourage questioning, and to teach them to use their skills and knowledge confidently in real life situations.
